Before the procedure, it is important that you are not taking any blood-thinning medications and avoid alcohol and nicotine to promote the healing process. We will also review your medical history together to rule out any possible contraindications.
Breast augmentation is usually performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia. The surgeon makes an incision in the breast fold to place the implants – either behind the mammary gland or the pectoral muscle. The procedure typically takes about one hour.
After the procedure, you will receive detailed aftercare instructions to promote rapid healing. You should take it easy for the first few weeks and avoid exercise or saunas for six weeks. We offer regular follow-up appointments to monitor the healing process.
As with any surgical procedure, breast augmentation with implants carries certain risks, such as temporary swelling, bruising, infection, bleeding, or asymmetry. In most cases, breast implants do not affect your ability to breastfeed. Please note that implants are not permanent. Replacement is usually necessary after about 10 to 15 years. Implants can also form a capsule (capsular fibrosis), which can change the shape of the breast and may require replacement.
